FAQs - Frequently asked questions
Who are the courses for?
Our courses are tailored to adults, therefore our courses may not be suitable for children under the age of 17. However, apart from this our courses are suitable for everyone, no matter what profession or age.

How long do the courses last?
Our courses are short-term coures and the duration is quite flexible. The minimum stay is one week but you are welcome to stay with us as long as you like.

Is there an exam at the end of the course?
Depending on which course you are taking and the requirements you may have, determines whether you take an exam. We offer exams on our own courses, but unless you have specified in your tailored course that you wish to take an exam, you will not be required to take one to pass the course. There are also many exams you can take that are internationally recognised as German as a second language qualification, if you feel you are ready at the end of the course to take these exams, we can refer you to the right exam board.

Is there a time limit on how long I can stay?
There is no limit on the amount of time you can stay with us. If you find after your course you would like to take another, just simply enroll and we can lengthen your stay.

Is it possible to learn in a group or only by myself?
We do like to encourage small group learning, as learning together with people with the same level of German can be very beneficial. However, sometimes this is not possible, as we receive many people with many different levels wanting to learn different topics, in these cases one to one classes are offered. One to one is also offered on request.

Are the starting dates flexible?
We try to keep our starting dates to the dates advertised on the dates & prices page. However, if these are impossible for you please get in touch and we will see what we can arrange.

Why learn German?
Please refer to our Why learn German page. This will give you all the answers you need.

How can I find out what level of German I have now?
If you would like to find out what level of German you are currently at, if your not a complete beginner, then please contact us and one of our teachers will contact you in order to determine which level you fall into. Please refer to our Level descriptions.

Can I stay longer than the time I have booked?
If you arrive in Germany and find that you would like to stay and learn German with us longer, we can simply extend your stay.

Can I come with friends to learn German?
You may come in a group to our language school. Depending on what level of German you all have will determine whether you all go in the same class, unless you would like to learn the same topics, for example business German.

Why should I study abroad?
The most effective way to learn a language is to be in the country itself. There is no faster way than by being totally immersed in a language, culture, and county to make quick progress in the language. Please refer to our German experience page for some more benefits.

What level of German do I need?
We take people with any level of German, whether you are a complete beginner or are an advanced learner, we have courses to suit everyone.

Where do I stay?
We arrange accommodation for you in one of the best hotels in the area. For more information please contact us and we can send you the details. Other accommodation is also available.

May I bring my child/spouse/partner?
You may bring your child/spouse/partner, but they will need to pay extra for their accommodation and unless they are also taking a German course they will not be able to attend yours. However, they are very welcome to join in with all the evening activities.

Do I have to stay in the accommodation that is recommended?
No, you don't have to stay in the accommodation we recommend, although it is easier as we arrange everything for you.

Do I have to take a placement test?
No, a placement test is not required, however, if you are not a complete beginner we will need to ascertain which level you are at. This will be done by one of our teachers, who will contact you.

Do I receive a certificate at the end of the course?
Yes, a certificate will be issued for every course that is successfully completed, stating which level you have completed and which level you are now at.

Will I meet anyone if I travel alone?
Yes! Many people travel to our school alone and we make every effort to help you meet locals and other people from the school, with our evening program and weekend excursions.

Is it fun or just work?
Although this is a course for serious German learners, it is not all work! We believe the best way for you to learn German is to have a good mixture of work and fun. Therefore, we organise many trips and outings to various places, making your stay in Germany fun and giving you every opportunity to improve your German.
